ur skill, experience and professionalism have often been recognized
by the judges presiding over our cases. In an April 5, 2006
order granting final approval of the $2.65 billion settlement in the
AOL Time Warner Securities Litigation, the Honorable Shirley Wohl
Kram, Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern
District of New York, remarked:
“Indeed, Lead Plaintiff’s Counsel, Heins, Mills & Olson, PLC, is a respected class action litigator, with considerable experience in major securities and antitrust class action lawsuits. Lead Plaintiff’s Counsel has garnered judicial praise for its representation in previous actions, and has continued to show its client commitment and exceptional lawyering in this case.”
On June 27, 2005, after we achieved a $150 million settlement as lead counsel for the shareholder class in the Broadcom Securities Fraud Litigation, the Honorable Gary L. Taylor, Judge of the United States District Court for the Central District of California offered this praise:
“I
know that there is an extremely high level of lawyering that has
been taken place on both sides in this case. The case involves some
very interesting, very novel issues. Everybody has done a very hard
job, a very hardworking job and has really approached it with a
great deal of professionalism and a great deal of experience and a
great deal of legal knowledge. So, I know that that’s occurred.

In a September 12, 2005 order granting final
approval of the Broadcom settlement, the Hon. Dickran Tevrizian
echoed the sentiments of Judge Taylor: "The recovery of $150 million
. . . is an exceptional result given the complexity of the case, and
despite keenly contested and very complex facts." Judge Tevrizian
recognized that "Class Counsel's ability to obtain a favorable
settlement despite formidable opposition confirms their immense
skill."
